The University of Liverpool has been shortlisted for two awards in this year’s Times Higher Education Awards. The awards celebrate the excellence and achievements of UK higher education institutions.

The University has been shortlisted in the Research Project of the Year category, for an Acoustics study led by the University’s School of Architecture and the Royal Northern College of Music, into the use of hands and feet to perceive pitch. The research aims to help people with hearing impairments to experience music in new ways through the use of vibrations.

Most improved student experience

The institution has also been shortlisted in the Most Improved Student Experience category, which is voted for by around 20,000 students who are independently surveyed on their opinions about the academic reputation, teaching, social life and facilities of their institutions.

Professor Kelvin Everest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Student Experience, said: “This recognises the progress we have made in enhancing our student experience and it is particularly pleasing that it is voted for by students.”

The winners will be announced on 28 November.
