Staff from the University took part in a nationwide purchasing conference at the BT Convention Centre at the ACC Liverpool.
COUP is the UK wide HE conference on purchasing which is held every two years and is hosted on a rotating basis by one of the UK’s six regional purchasing consortia. This year it was the turn of the North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC), which originated as an initiative by this University in 1976.
Patrick Hackett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, gave the opening address and staff were able to attend seminars on procurement, sustainability and law as well as peruse the exhibition stands of suppliers.
Mark Walton, Head of Procurement said: “We wanted to bring the sector’s flagship procurement event back to Liverpool as it was last held here in 1987, and as a member of the organising committee, I was keen to ensure that as many staff as possible from the University could attend the conference and exhibition.”
