Liverpool Health Partners (LHP) have launched a Joint Research Office (JRO) to streamline the research development process across the city-region.
The JRO brings together a unique configuration of experts from across LHP, who will support clinical research with high patient benefit. The JRO will provide advice, support and guidance to clinicians and academics making it easier and faster for them to deliver all types of research.
Infrastructure
LHP has a strong and enviable infrastructure to deliver clinical research, including a stable population, world-leading expertise and specialist facilities. However,across the country, clinical trials can be notoriously slow to be established. The JRO will ensure that trials in the Liverpool city-region commence in a timely fashion and are effectively supported throughout their lifetime. It will provide a package of services, including support for the development of funding applications, contractual matters and governance.
The JRO is based on the University of Liverpool campus, close to a number of the city-region’s clinical trials units, and alongside a large team of research support experts. It is managed by Alex Astor.
He said: “The launch today of the Joint Research Office is testament to Liverpool Health Partners’ commitment to clinical research. Supporting clinicians to establish clinical trials quickly and efficiently will impact upon clinical care and patient outcomes in the most serious of diseases. Our new team brings together experts from the University and the NHS so that we can provide integrated services to projects that span these local organisations.”
