The first cohort of students have arrived to study the University of Liverpool’s new Criminology and Security degree in Singapore.

The programme, which is the first undergraduate degree in Criminology to be offered in Singapore, was launched earlier this year as a partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).

It is being taught at the Temasek Polytechnic campus in Singapore by a team of sociologists and criminologists from Liverpool’s Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology.

As part of the three-year degree programme students will undertake a variety of modules ranging from criminological theory and sociological research methods, to more specialised topics including the prison system, policing, youth crime, victimisation, and risk and security. Some of the modules will also be adapted or developed to the South East Asian context.
