Commonwealth Scholarship representative, Peter Vlachos, visited the University of Liverpool campus this week to meet some of the postgraduate students who have benefitted from funding.
The event was to enable the Scholars to talk about their experience of studying at Liverpool under the joint scholarship schemeĀ and the opinions were overwhelmingly positive.
The scholarships are jointly funded by the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which is part of the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the University. It has now been running for 7 years and gives students the chance to study a wide range of subjects including Veterinary Pathology, Biological Sciences, Energy Generation and International Law.
The University of Liverpool offers both Postgraduate Taught and PhD scholarships on the scheme to candidates from developing countriesĀ in the Commonwealth, including Pakistan, Jamaica and Nigeria.
The 14 current University of Liverpool Commonwealth Scholars were joined by their supervisors and others from Liverpool John Moores at the event.
