10th anniversary of The Penny Readings at St George’s Hall

Staff are invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Penny Readings with a free Christmas festival in St George’s Hall, hosted by The Reader Organisation.

The Penny Readings Festival is open to the public and takes place on Sunday 15 December, 1.30-5.30pm in the Great Hall and follows the tradition of Charles Dickens, who from the 1840s onwards travelled across the North West giving readings for just one penny.

There will also be Ha’penny Readings at 1.30pm and Penny Readings at 2.30pm and 6.30pm in the Concert Room which is ticket only.

Special guests include British screenwriter and novelist Frank Cottrell Boyce and the Wirral Ukulele Orchestra who will be entertaining the audience.
