Five Pre-Apprentices have been welcomed to the University as part of a pilot programme, developed in partnership with Liverpool City Council and City of Liverpool College.
The Pre-Apprenticeship Programme involves 12 weeks training at the City of Liverpool College, followed by 12 weeks valuable work experience in departments across the institution.
On 6 January, Ellie Crawley (17) joins Facilities Management as Administration Support, Jessica Lee (18) joins CTL in a laboratory support role, Rhiannon Gerrish (17) joins Physical Sciences as Administration Support, Hollie Kneale (17) joins Human Resources in Payroll and Megan Sullivan joins Humanities and Social Sciences as Student Experience Assistant.
At the end of their placement, they will all receive a progression interview to help them to fully reflect on the skills and experience they have gained
Steve Plant, who has led the development of the Programme, said: “Pre-Apprenticeships are an important addition to our internships, graduate training programme and our full apprenticeship programme.
“These short placements, with the basic training foundation, are a great way for young people to prepare and understand what it is like to work in a university. Our intention is to build on this next year and expand the number of placements to provide wider opportunity.”
