Liverpool is one of the best cities in the world to visit, according to global travel writers Rough Guide.
It was named third in the Rough Guide list of cities to visit in 2014, thanks to its “full blown cultural renaissance” and “new creative quarters like the Baltic Triangle, where bars and fashion studios are springing up in old, brick-built warehouses near the Mersey.”
This year is particularly significant for the city as it plays host to the Liverpool Biennial – a ten week cultural showcase – and the International Festival for Business which is expected to attract 250,000 visitors.
Other recently announced events include the return of huge marionettes which will perform street theatre as part of commemorations of 100 years since the outbreak of World War One, and the reopening of the Everyman Theatre near the University campus.
The ranking also takes into account the ongoing work to add to the city’s cultural offering with the redevelopment of the city centre and docks and the existing attractions related to sport, music and art.
The full list of cities can be found on the Rough Guide website and you can find out more about Liverpool’s attractions at the Visit Liverpool website.
