Car Parking Update

Car parking update

Whilst acknowledging limitations in our car parking provision given our city centre location and the ongoing capital investment projects across campus, every effort is being made to maximise access for staff to university and council car parking facilities.

In response to feedback from staff,  via the Staff Survey and other channels,  about the issues encountered with car parking over the past few months, please find an update on car parking arrangements and information:-

Car park space Information

Full details of available car parking spaces are available on the car park update page on the intranet http://www.liv.ac.uk/facilities-management/travel_plan/ and the latest information about travel and transport disruption can be found  at  http://www.liv.ac.uk/facilities-management/travel_plan/travelandtransportdisruptions/

Car share

The Foundation Building will be the designated car share car park, replacing the Hart Building car park.  Those staff who currently car share will be notified shortly and their swipe cards will be updated to provide access.  Staff wishing to join the car share scheme should visit the following link for more information  https://livshare.liv.ac.uk/

Leahurst travel

The Hart Building car park will be reserved for those staff who need to travel between the main campus and Leahurst during their normal working day. Arrangements for staff who need access to this car park will be agreed between the School of Veterinary Sciences and Vehicle parking in FM.

Designated car park for carers:

Mount Pleasant Car Park (next to 126 Mount Pleasant, opposite the entrance to the Catholic Cathedral) will be reserved solely for those people who have ‘carer’ status and display a carer parking permit.  Arrangements for who will be eligible to apply and how this will be managed are currently being reviewed.

Bedford House car park

Following a risk assessment on the significant traffic disruption that has recently been experienced, Bedford House car park (Cambridge Street) will revert to a standard University car park open to staff 24 hours a day,  and to visitors on a restricted basis of 17.30pm – 07.30am, from Monday 17 March.

Mount Pleasant City Council multi-storey car park

60 people have now taken up available subsidised car parking at the Mount Pleasant City Council multi-storey car park on Brownlow Hill.  Staff can apply for a reserved parking space at preferential rates by obtaining a permit on the following link vehicleparking@liv.ac.uk

Further developments on travel and car parking

The University is making every effort to provide staff as much information as possible about car parking availability.  A travel planner is currently being appointed and an independent consultant, Mott MacDonald, has been engaged to review the travel strategy for the University. This study will be completed by the end of April.

In the meantime, please find further information about the university’s current travel plan http://www.liv.ac.uk/facilities-management/travel_plan/ and Frequently Asked Questions https://www.liv.ac.uk/intranet/facilities-management/faqs/  available on the intranet.
