Reports outlining staff survey results are now available to view on the intranet.
During November and December 2013, the University conducted a staff survey to gather opinions from across our institution about working life. The staff survey is an important measure of how the University is doing as an employer and a useful opportunity to help understand what is important to staff, as well as identify areas where improvements can be made.
In total, 56% of staff responded and Capita Surveys and Research have provided a short newsletter outlining the results
Overall, the results are positive, with 84% of staff stating they believe the University is a good place to work, and 82% of respondents saying they are proud to work here.
However, it is also important concerns raised by staff are considered at all levels and that colleagues are able to inform future actions in these areas.
These included:
– workload and bureaucracy
– how change is managed
– co-operation and communication across our institution
– how practical issues, such as car parking and other facilities, are managed
The Senior Executive Team and Professional Services Leadership Team have discussed the results and departments are now in the process of doing the same with their teams.
Local action plans will then be devised to address concerns and build on areas where staff feel the University is performing well. The local plans will be co-ordinated across Faculties and Professional Services, with submission in May 2014. Common issues will then be fed into an institution-wide action plan.
The reports are now available on the intranet and have also been shared with our Trade Union partners.
Staff will be kept fully informed of changes that are implemented as a result of feedback – at both an institutional and local level. The progress will be reviewed regularly by the Staff Survey Board and actions will be reported by the Survey Implementation Group.
