Liverpool launches Irish studies degree at London Campus

London-6wThe University of Liverpool has announced a new Master’s degree programme in Irish studies at its London Campus, starting in September.

The programme will be taught on a part-time basis over two years by experts in Irish history, politics, culture, literature and drama, as well as the processes of peace-building in Northern Ireland.

BBC Correspondent Fergal Keane and Tony Blair’s former chief of staff Jonathan Powell are Visiting Professors at the Institute of Irish Studies and will contribute to the London programme. This will give you a unique opportunity to learn from those who not only report on war and peace but have contributed to the Northern Irish peace process.

In recent years, speakers at the University’s Irish Studies Institute have included Irish Presidents Michael D. Higgins, Mary McAleese and Mary Robinson, and many of Ireland’s most acclaimed writers, poets and critics, including Roddy Doyle, Tom Paulin and Fintan O’Toole as well as Nobel prize winners, John Hume and the late Seamus Heaney.
