The new integrated HR and Payroll system, CORE HR, has been used for the first time to pay members of the University of Liverpool Pension Fund (ULPF) scheme who are in receipt of their pension. This represents a very positive start to the system roll-out, with no operational issues reported.
Professor Stephen Holloway, Provost, Chairman of the Liverpool People Programme Board, which oversees the CORE project, said of this development:
“The payment of ULPF members from our new system is a significant milestone for the CORE HR project and has been made possible by strong partnerships and valuable contributions from every area of the University. In the coming weeks, all current and retired colleagues will receive pay that has been generated through the new system and should start to see increased efficiency of HR and Payroll services as a result.”
Next Steps
The next milestone is the May payment to ULPF pensioners who are based in the Isle of Man. It is anticipated that we will pay current University staff from the CORE HR system in June, with this ‘go-live’ date set to be confirmed shortly.
New features to be rolled out over the coming months will see staff given full access to their CORE HR portal, where they can take control of their personal information, manage annual leave and sickness absence, view pay information, including payslips, and book training and development activities.

Over the coming weeks, the CORE HR team will be finalising resources to support the transition to the new system, such as Frequently Asked Questions, user guides and key contacts. The project team will continue to keep staff informed of developments in the CORE HR implementation via the HR intranet news page, which will be updated regularly.
