New partnership for Liverpool and Trinity College Dublin

The University of Liverpool and Trinity College Dublin, have agreed a strategic partnership that will facilitate student mobility programmes between the universities, as well as with Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), China.

It will build on strong existing relations between the Irish Studies programmes at both institutions, as well as promoting wider research collaborations, student innovation, employability and entrepreneurship.

The strategic partnership will explore opportunities for co-taught courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as joint PhD supervision.

Provost of Trinity College, Dr Prendergast said: “The University of Liverpool is one of the world’s leading institutions for the research and teaching of Irish Studies and we look forward to further collaboration in this area.

“Building on our existing strong links and complementary strengths, we will work together to provide educational programmes and opportunities for our students in Ireland and internationally.”

Welcoming the new partnership, University of Liverpool Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Howard Newby, said: “This exciting collaboration will facilitate wonderful opportunities for research partnerships and student and staff exchanges between both universities, as well as our partner institutions in China, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.”

Both universities will seek to cooperate in the areas of student innovation, employability and entrepreneurship, encouraging participation of Liverpool students in the Trinity’s Innovation Academy programme.  There will also be collaboration between both universities’ Careers Services with a view to sharing expertise and widening student placement opportunities.
