The University of Liverpool has risen from 54th to 45th in the latest Guardian University Guide.
The table is based on scores in teaching and also contains rankings for individual subjects. In these subject tables, the Guardian has ranked Liverpool as the top place in Britain to study both anatomy and physiology, and veterinary science.
The University also comes second in the table for nursing and fifth for forensic science and archaeology. There are also top 10 places in the subject tables for building and town and country planning, chemistry, and civil engineering.
The Guide is based on subject tables which are put together using eight measures, all of which are based on teaching. Three of the eight measures use data taken from the National Student Survey 2013.
Commenting on the Guide, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Howard Newby said: “This welcome rise is very much down to the commitment of all our staff in delivering high quality, innovative teaching, support and services for students, as well as a reflection of the £600m investment we are making in our facilities.
“Research-led teaching is a key part of the student experience and a Liverpool degree is highly valued by employers – we are one of the top 24 universities targeted by graduate recruiters.”
