Maggie Hammond, a Lecturer in Communication for Clinical Practice in the School of Medicine, has been ‘highly commended’ at the Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards held in London.
She received the award in the Professional Excellence category for the work the School does with students and the Association and stroke survivors.
Maggie said: “The School of Medicine are pioneers in this work and the Association hopes that other medical schools will follow the University’s example.”
The ceremony was attended by a number of celebrities who have an interest in the Association including Andrew Marr, the BBC broadcaster and journalist who had a stroke in January 2013.
