Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral played host to 2014’s graduation celebration, allowing visitors to view proceedings in the round and graduands to receive their degrees from Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Howard Newby in one of the city’s most iconic buildings
A short walk from the Cathedral brings the splendour of Abercromby Square in the sunshine. A marquee offering everything from strawberries and cream, to Pimms, coffees and cakes provided a warm welcome. Visitors, academics and graduates could pull up a chair and reflect on the day’s proceedings
As well as refreshments, the marquee carried a live stream of each graduation directly from the Cathdedral, allowing additional guests to watch each big moment in comfort
With the sun shining there can be few better places in the city to relax with a drink than Abercromby Square. Graduates and their guests took full advantage of the atmosphere, as live music played and the Pimms flowed
The newly refurbished Liverpool Guild of Students played a big role this year, with gowns collected and photos taken inside. Here one graduate makes his way back to Abercromby Square past the newly planted living wall
Magnificent St George’s Hall hosted Graduation Dinner where dignitaries, guests and friends of the University celebrated with Honorary Graduates and watched a film featuring prominent Liverpool alumni, like Melvyn Bragg
