Catherine Moore joined the University of Liverpool’s Computer Services Department in 2011 as a Principle Business Intelligence Specialist. She quickly demonstrated a tremendous capability in her professional field and developed strong working relationships with colleagues through her engaging personality and obvious love for life.
Catherine’s move to the University coincided with the development of the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms and she was a central figure in the successful development of these systems and the services they now support.
In 2012 Catherine was diagnosed with terminal cancer having already overcome breast cancer at an earlier time. Catherine was not prepared to let this tragic news distract her from her passion for life or dampen her positive and outgoing attitude. In fact, Catherine did quite the opposite, astounding her family, friends and her medical team by challenging herself to undertake a number of significant international expeditions all with the aim of supporting charities that were close to her heart.
Since her diagnosis Catherine walked the Great Wall of China; Cycled Vietnam to Cambodia and trekked the Grand Canyon. She was a great inspiration to everyone who had the opportunity to meet and get to know her – she will be missed.
Catherine’s funeral will be held on the 27th January 2015 in her home town, Kirkcaldy in Scotland. Her family have requested that any donations be made to her favourite charity North West Cancer Research through the Just Giving website.
