Liverpool University Press (LUP) has been named Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year at the 2015 Independent Publishing Awards.
The team was commended for their innovation and partnerships work. LUP have been nominated for the award for the last three years and this year secured the win against strong competition from global publishing firms, such as Bloomsbury.
Liverpool University Press Managing Director, Anthony Cond, said: “University presses make a vital and often unsung contribution to the scholarly ecosystem. Liverpool University Press is an outstanding example of a talented team working in partnership with authors and editors to produce consistently excellent publications.”
The team was also recognised for their achievement in securing JISC funding to explore new e-textbook models. The judging panel commented that LUP “does a lot of things you wouldn’t expect from a university press and thinks outside of the usual confines of publishing.”
The awards, supported by the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG), recognised the achievements of 12 other winning publishing firms and named arts and crafts publisher, Search Press, as the overall Publisher of the Year 2015.
Congratulations to a brilliant team with a truly glocal approach!
