Postgraduate Support Scheme Launched

A new £10,000 scholarship scheme is being introduced for postgraduate students to support the University’s commitment to widening participation.

The Postgraduate Support Scheme will help remove barriers to postgraduate education for 125 students from groups currently under-represented in Higher Education. The scholarships form part of an initiative by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

The scholarships, each worth £10,000, are available to students from the UK or EU who have an undergraduate degree from a UK university and paid the higher undergraduate tuition fees introduced in 2012. They are available for full or part-time taught Masters students beginning their studies in 2015 at the Liverpool or London campuses.

The University recognises that finance is a major barrier to postgraduate study, and this scholarship joins other awards such as the Postgraduate Progression Award and the Vice Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship and the Faculty Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship in addition to competitively priced tuition fees.

The Postgraduate Open Days being held in Liverpool on 18 March and London on 22 April will offer students an opportunity to find out more about this scholarship and other funding opportunities.
