Successful charity law event held at University’s London campus

Academics, judges, QCs and representatives from the some of the country’s top legal firms debated changes to charity law at a special event held at the University of Liverpool’s London campus.

In total, more than 90 attendees, some from as far away as China and Australia, joined event chairs Professor Debra Morris, Director of the University’s Charity Law & Policy Unit, and Professor Warren Barr for the Charity Law & Policy Unit Law Commission engagement event.

Presentations on proposed changes and potential reforms to charity law were delivered by Law Commissioner, Professor Elizabeth Cooke and the Law Commission’s Daniel Robinson, before representatives of the Charity Law Association opened the debate to the audience to contribute.

Professor Debra Morris said: “This was a high profile event held in the fantastic surroundings of our London campus, on Finsbury Square. Whilst we plan to continue hosting most of our events in Liverpool, having the London campus available made this a very popular.

“Members of the public have until July 3 to submit responses to the consultation on charity law, and we hope the event helped stimulate an increase in engagement with this consultation.”
