The University of Liverpool’s Victoria Gallery & Museum has a packed programme of fun events to keep children entertained during the summer holidays.
The events include a Science Club, Summer Workshops and Family Saturdays.
The Science Club is aimed at 8 – 13 year olds and each week will focus on a different science discipline including Chemistry, Geology, Life Sciences and Physics. Booking is required for these sessions.
The Summer Workshops are held every Thursday afternoon during the summer between 1pm and 4pm. Each session is inspired by the VG&M’s collections and participants get to make a unique piece of artwork.
At one of the sessions, children will create a 3-D volcano in celebration of the return to the VG&M of the JMW Turner’s The Eruption of the Soufriere Mountains in the Island of St. Vincent, 30th April 1812. At another session children will meet and learn about birds of prey brought in by Rockcliffe Raptors.
The VG&M’s Family Saturdays will take place on the last Saturday of the month and include a film screening in the morning followed by a drop-in art and craft workshop in the afternoon
All of the Summer Workshops and Family Saturday events are free and no booking is required. Science Club sessions are free but booking is required, please call 0151 794 2348 or email vgm@liv.ac.uk to book a place.
