A degree programme at the University’s London campus has received accreditation from the Chartered Finance Analyst (CFA) Institute.
As part of CFA’s University Recognition Programme, the MSc Finance and Investment Management course will be official endorsed by the industry.
Strengthening employability
Programme lead for the course, Phil Morey said: “The MSc Finance and Investment Management has been designed to incorporate most of the learning outcomes from the prestigious CFA programme. In this way, the programme blends academia and the financial services profession so that it strengthens the employability of our students.
“Recognition of our MSc by the CFA Institute is tremendously exciting, as it both validates the aims of the programme and acts as a vitally important signpost for prospective students.”
Trading Room
To support the Finance and Investment Management course, the London campus is creating a trading room that will utilise live data feeds from the financial markets. This will enable students to access real-time market data to undertake trading strategies and to support research and knowledge.
Trading data will be provided either by Bloomberg or by Thomson Reuters, both of which are used by the major banks and financial institutions across the globe. The trading room is scheduled to open before the end of this academic year and will be available from the start of the programme for the 2016 cohort.
As part of the newly accredited MSc programme, two new modules will now be introduced in research skills and regulation and ethics with effect from 2016.
