Following the completion of a European and UK review, the University has successfully retained its HR Excellence in Research Award.
This important evaluation provides external recognition of the University’s commitment towards ensuring favourable employment conditions and professional development of all its research staff.
Vitae, the UK based body championing researchers’ development, in partnership with the European Commission, have announced that the University’s implementation plan for the period of 2011-2015 demonstrated clear institutional efforts towards developing and supporting research staff.
Supporting researchers
A summary of the feedback received included: “The peer review team believe that Liverpool has made good progress in supporting the careers of its research staff and is committed to working with them in future in delivering the new strategy.”
The University was particularly commended for its innovative projects, including:
- The teaching qualification for its research staff
- The active redeployment processes
- Its future plans to support further researcher representation
A timely award
Professor Dinah Birch, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Impact added:
”I am delighted by this excellent news, and I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in this review. This is the second time we have successfully retained the award. The external recognition, which is very important for our university, commits us to further our recognition, support and development structures for our research staff.
This award is especially timely, as it will enhance an important aspect of our new research strategy in which we will continue to develop our institutional mechanisms towards supporting researchers and their high-quality research across our schools and institutes.”
