Liverpool is the second cheapest city in Britain for students

Liverpool is the second cheapest city in Britain for students, according to a new survey.

According to the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) survey the city ranked behind only Portsmouth in the league table of cost-effective university cities.

The survey of 2,500 students across the UK takes into account many factors, including living and accommodation costs.

Massive difference

Liverpool has a much lower average weekly rent than the UK average of £109.

The survey also takes average student incomes in each city into account. Liverpool students have among the highest term-time incomes – around £1,425 per term.

Dan Jones, Royal Bank of Scotland head of student accounts, said: “Making the most of university can be expensive and there is a massive difference in the costs students face depending on where they choose to study.”
