National Eye Health Week – Researcher wins best paper award

A recent corneal fellow from St Paul’s Eye Unit, RLUH working within the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease has won the best paper session award at the European Society of Cornea and Ocular Surface Disease Specialities (EUCornea) conference in Copenhagen.

Dr Vito Romano, who is now a fellow in Moorfields Eye Hospital, won the award for his paper ‘Functional grading of inflammatory activity in chronic allergic keratoconjunctivitis – pilot study’ which was based on research conducted under the direction of Prof Stephen Kaye at the Institute’s Department and Eye and Vision Science.

EUCornea is a non-profit, scientific organisation active in Europe and whose purpose is to promote personal relationships and exchange of scientific knowledge and practical skills among corneal specialists in Europe. It also encourages, supports and registers scientific research in the field of cornea and ocular surface disease in Europe.
