Winner of this year's Christmas card competition awarded to Martin Ushatov
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janet Beer, has launched a competition to design a University Christmas card.
The competition is open to students and staff. The winner will receive £100 in book tokens, with second and third place entrants receiving £50 and £25 tokens respectively.
The winning design will be used for this year’s Christmas card sent by the VC and the Senior Management Team.
Submissions can include photographs, paintings, drawings or digital design, and should offer perspectives about what makes Liverpool a unique place to live, work or study. The winners will be announced at the beginning of December.
Last year’s winner was Architecture undergraduate Martin Ushatov who submitted a design showing Father Christmas climbing the iconic redbrick Victoria Building (see featured image).
Second place was awarded to Biological Sciences PhD Zimeng Zhang for her digital design depicting the famous city Liver Bird, and third place went to PhD student in the Institute of Integrative Biology, Siân Owen, for her design showing a Christmas tree made out of familiar buildings on and around campus.
Commenting on the competition, Professor Beer said: “We received some exceptional submissions for the Christmas card competition last year. I am really looking forward to seeing this year’s entries and being able to show off the creativity of our students and staff when the cards are sent out. All are welcome to take part and show us what they think makes our University so special.”
The competition is open until Thursday, 10 November 2016. Entries can be emailed to lindsey.sergeant@liverpool.ac.uk or delivered to the Vice-Chancellor’s office in the Foundation Building on campus (Building 765 on Campus Map).
