This week (Wednesday, 19 October) during a special ceremony the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) awarded its highest level of membership to three academics from the University for their exemplary contribution to knowledge.
From the University’s Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease Professor Peter Clegg received a Fellowship of the College for meritorious contribution to knowledge while Dr Mandy Peffers’ award is the result of three years study leading to a thesis.
Professor Susan Dawson, Head of the University’s Institute of Veterinary Science, was also made a Fellow for her meritorious contributions to knowledge.
The Fellowships were awarded at a special ceremony at The Royal Institution in London that featured a keynote speech from Consultant Medical Oncologist and Professor of Cancer Medicine Martin Gore CBE entitled ‘Research at the coalface: the pros and cons, the ups and the downs’.
Nick Bacon, Chair of the Fellowship Board, said: “The aim of the new Fellowship initiative is to advance and develop clinical and professional standards by providing a resource of independent knowledge for the benefit of the veterinary profession, the scientific community, and the general public as a whole.”
