Staff Awards 2016 winners announced

Staff from across the University were recognised at the Staff Awards 2016 ceremony at the Liverpool Guild of Students.

Hosted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Patrick Hackett, more than 270 staff attended the event where BBC Radio Merseyside Presenter Roger Phillips revealed the winners.

Winners included Human Anatomy Resource Centre (HARC) team for  Outstanding Contribution to Public Engagement. The HARC team created a television documentary series that, for the first time, depicted the experience of body donation and aimed to better inform the public about what it means to donate your body to research and teaching.

The two-part series was broadcast by Channel 5 in September 2015 and was watched by over 1.2 million people.  Following its transmission, the team saw a sustained surge in interest from people interesting in donating their bodies to science.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janet Beer said: “The annual Staff Awards event is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the commitment, skill and success of our colleagues. Their work helps to make the University an exceptional institution.”

This University is full of inspirational people who deliver exceptional service or are outstanding in their field. This year we have received almost 300 nominations, the largest number since the award began. I would like to thank all of the staff who took the time to nominate their colleagues for an award.”
