Over 700 international clinical trial experts from across the world are expected in Liverpool in May for a joint conference organised by the MRC Hubs for Trials Methodology Research (HTMR) Network, and the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT).
The event, which takes place between the 7th and 10th at the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool, incorporates the HTMR’s 4th International Clinical Trials (ICTMC) Methodology Conference and the SCT’s Annual Meeting 2017.
The MRC North West Hub for Trials Methodology Research (NWHTMR), based in the University’s Department of Biostatistics, is the local organiser.
Accelerating
Individual ‘Hubs’ were established by the UK Medical Research Council to create a UK-wide regionally distributed research resource to improve the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical trials.
The University’s ‘Hub’ promotes and encourages collaborative methodological research relevant to trials, with the aim of accelerating implementation of the most effective and appropriate methods to improve the quality of trials and, ultimately, patient care.
The Society for Clinical Trials (SCT) is an educational, charitable, and scientific organization whose mission is to work internationally to advance human health through advocating the use of clinical trials, leading the development and dissemination of optimal methods and practices in clinical trials, and educating and developing all clinical trial professionals.
Unique opportunity
Professor Paula Williamson, Director of the NWHTMR, said: ”The event will incorporate the best of the two individual meetings, and will include new talking points, and opportunities for colleagues to network and engage.
“This event promises to be a unique opportunity for those working in clinical trials to collaborate at a world leading conference venue to discuss the issues pertinent in trials today.”
