Beyond Dredd & Watchmen: the Art of John Higgins
Friday 10 March until October. Free.

The exhibition will display a retrospective of the work of Liverpool-born artist John Higgins, who found global success as a comic book artist and writer for 2000AD, DC and Marvel. Higgins’ original art will be shown alongside examples of the work of artists who inspired him.

The cryogenic revolution in structural biology

Developments in technology are enabling advances through the study of frozen biological samples more simple. Professor Richard Henderson FRS from the MRC Laboratories of Molecular Biology will describe the new cryoEM methods, and why they represent a revolution in structural biology.
An overview of the radical right in Europe
Thursday 16 March, 5pm. Free. Rendall Building
What does the rise of radical right-wing populist parties mean for liberal democracy? Professor Sarah de Lange, Professor of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam, will examine Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom, Marine Le Pen’s National Front and Nigel Farage’s UKIP.
2017 Potts Medal Lecture – From Chemistry to biomarkers, via positrons: My journey since leaving Liverpool

The Potts Medal is awarded every year to recognise outstanding contributions to chemistry. This year’s recipient is Dr Tim McCarthy, who has a B.Jc. and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Liverpool. He is now Executive Director at Pfizer, where he leads the Clinical and Imaging Group. Dr McCarthy will be talking about his career in chemistry.
