Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid, called in to see the Materials Innovation Factory as part of his visit to the Knowledge Quarter.
The visit to the region centred on increasing awareness of the Mayoral elections across the Liverpool City Region which take place on 4 May.
Whilst at the Materials Innovation Factory, Sajid Javid was shown some of the latest in scientific robotic equipment which is being installed in the£68million facility due to officially opened later this year.
The facility will revolutionise materials chemistry research and development by drawing together world-leading, multi-disciplinary research expertise, unparalleled technical facilities and a dynamic support infrastructure.
The Materials Innovation Factory is a unique public/private partnership between the University and Unilever supported by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, as part of the UK Government’s Research Partnership Investment Fund.
