More than 5,000 students were on campus this week to receive their degrees at ceremonies held at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
The week began with the installation of author, journalist and playwright, Colm Tóibín, as the University’s new Chancellor.
We also awarded six honorary degrees across the week, with recipients including conservation scientist, Dame Georgina Mace, violinist and joint leader of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Thelma Handy and Paul Brett (pictured below with the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor).
The splendour of Abercromby Square provided the perfect location for event celebrations. Visitors were able to watch live broadcasts of the ceremonies live on multiple screens, a string quartet played and refreshments were served.
Hope Street was specially decorated for the week with props available for graduates and their guests to be photographed with.
On Wednesday evening, almost 500 guests attended the dinner in honour of this year’s graduates which was held at St George’s Hall. David Olusaga (below), an alumnus of the Department of History, gave a speech on behalf of the honorary graduates.
The Alumni team were on hand in the Guild of Students and the Marquee to help graduates stay connected to the University and join the global Liverpool alumni community.
