The GiveGetGo Programme is continuing its success in transforming lives across Merseyside with 4 participants now working at the University and a total of 61% of volunteers securing employment.
Over 12 weeks people who are unemployed, in many cases long-term with multiple barriers to employment get the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of departments with the support of a mentor from the University. They also attend a unique Positive Workology training course which links positive psychology techniques with employment skills.
In addition to roles at the University GiveGetGo volunteers have successfully gained employment with organisations such as the Home Office, NHS and Merseyrail.
Overall from the 2 cohorts that have been run so far at the University, out of the initial 23 people who started, 14 are now working and 4 have gone on to further training.
After running groups at Speke Hall and Everton Football Club, GiveGetGo is returning to the University in September and all departments are encouraged to get involved and offer placements to volunteers.
GiveGetGo Programme is supported throughout the University and is extremely important in supporting the University’s People Strategy and Widening Participation.
