Professor John Wheeler, who has recently been appointed to the George Herdman Chair of Geology at the School of Environmental Sciences will be hosting a public lecture entitled “Crystal World: the science of the Earth beneath our feet”.
John will discuss experiences and discoveries from his career in Geology so far and the science of crystals beneath the Earth’s surface.
All are welcome to attend. The public lecture will take place on Tuesday, 26 September, 6pm at the Sherrington Lecture Theatre, LT1. Following the lecture there will be an informal drinks reception at the Jane Herdman Map Library.

This Inaugural Lecture comes at the start of Geography and Geology’s Centenary year celebrations on Saturday, 23 September with an Open House reception in the Herdman Building and the Centenary Dinner in St George’s Hall.
