Event: Risk – Perceptions versus the Data

The University’s Institute for Risk and Uncertainty is hosting an open lecture as part of their Risk Lecture Series. In their latest event, Managing Director of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, Professor Richard Clegg will be provide analysis on the perceptions and reality of risk in the modern world.

Professor Clegg will illustrate how the public understanding of risk is of growing importance in today’s fast-moving, technology-enable world. With technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, big data and nanotechnology moving so quickly, Professor Clegg will argue that perhaps infrastructure should be designed with resilience in mind rather than to just cope with, for example, a one-in-hundred year event.
