The University has been ranked 14 in the UK, 50th in Europe and 129 worldwide in the Best Global Universities table, published by US News and World Report.
The overall rankings are produced based on 13 indicators that measure research publication volume and impact (outputs published between 2011-2015) and regional and global reputation. They encompass 1,250 institutions spread across 74 countries. The University’s relative strengths were in the proportion of international co-authored publications, the publication of books and the normalised citation impact. These mirror the University’s performance in similar metrics in the Times Higher Education World Rankings.
Liverpool features in 14 of the 22 linked subject level league tables. It was in the top 100 for three core disciplines underpinning the University’s Personalised Health and Infection research priorities – namely Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology.
