Due to industrial action, a reduced train service will run across the Merseyrail network on Monday 8, Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 January 2018.
Students are advised to check and plan their travel accordingly and account for possible delays or cancellations in services.
There will be no trains running on the Kirkby, Ellesmere Port or Hunts Cross lines during the strike action.
Most services will run between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00. However, there will be a break in service during the middle of the day. Some stations will be closed.
Arriva Buses have agreed to accept Merseyrail tickets on all three strike days for bus journeys covering Merseyrail’s Northern and Wirral lines. To prevent overcrowding on buses, Merseyrail tickets will not be accepted between 07:00 – 09:00 and 16:00 – 18:00.
Valid cross river rail tickets will also be valid on Mersey Ferries.
Examinations
Examinations will go ahead as scheduled and students are advised to check the relevant travel information and plan an alternative route to University where necessary. As Merseyrail have given advance notice of travel disruption as a result of strike action, travel disruption will not be considered as grounds for extenuating circumstances.
Please ensure you are at your examination hall at least 15 minutes before the start of your examination. All examination halls will close 30 minutes after the start time.
