The University is launching its 2018 series of interactive Meet the Scientists events at Liverpool’s World Museum this weekend.
Aimed at a family audience, with fun activities and demonstrations designed to demonstrate the global impact of Liverpool’s health and life sciences research, the 2018 programme begins on Saturday, 27 January with ‘Battle Station: Infection’
Led by the University’s Institute of Infection and Global Health, ‘Battle Station: Infection’ will explore the theme of infectious diseases in people and animals.
Dr Becky Glennon-Alty, Science Communication and Public Engagement Officer at the Institute, said: “Our researchers work on a fascinating array of infectious diseases, some of which can affect our daily lives. This is a great chance for people to along and meet our researchers to learn more about what infectious diseases are, how they spread, and what can be done to tackle them.”
Upcoming events later in the year will be led by different Institutes from across the faculty and themes will include the diversity of the plant and animal kingdom, healthy bodies and minds, and how science is helping us live longer, healthier lives.
Meet the Scientists is supported by the Wellcome Trust and is a part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences’ public engagement programme, which also includes school visits, public lectures and running events at science festivals.
Events are free and take place from 10.00am to 4.00pm at World Museum, William Brown St, Liverpool L3 8EN.
