Free event: Meet the Scientists

From learning how your heart pumps blood to a creating your own Lego scientist, experts from the University of Liverpool will give visitors an insight into all things living at World Museum, Liverpool this weekend.

‘Alive!’ is the latest in the ‘Meet the Scientists’ event series, which aims to engage the public with health and life sciences research in an informal and interactive way. This particular event is being led by the Institute of Integrative Biology and is taking place as part of British Science Week.

A host of family-friendly activities will be on offer throughout the day; you can explore the diversity of life forms, including plants, microbes and animals as well as their habitats.

Jill Madine, Biochemistry Research Fellow at The University of Liverpool, said: “Our ‘Meet the Scientists’ events are a great way to enjoy interactive science that’s fun for all the family. At this Saturday’s ‘Alive!’ event you’ll be able to meet expert scientists and discover the wonders of the living world, including how your heart pumps blood to every part of your body, take part in a treasure hunt to discover the best new drug to treat a disease or take home your own Lego scientist!”

Meet the Scientists is supported by the Wellcome Trust and is a part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences’ public engagement programme, which also includes school visits, public lectures and running events at science festivals.

‘Alive!’ is free and takes place on Saturday, 17 March 2018 from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
