Varsity 2018: Everything you need to know

Liverpool Varsity – a competition between our students and students from Liverpool John Moores University – is taking place next week.

The annual competition kicks off on Monday, 9 April at 7pm with the swimming mixed team event at our Sports Centre, alongside volleyball, karate and trampoline. Three days of 35 competitive sporting fixtures follow and you’ll be able to watch our teams battle it out at venues across the city, including here on campus in the sports centre.

Tom Milner, AU president said: “This year Varsity promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with events raging throughout the week. Personally I can’t wait for it to get started and hopefully on Wednesday night I’ll be lifting that trophy!”

This year, the main event is the netball and basketball headliner, being held at Greenbank Academy. This event is ticketed and you can book your tickets via our Eventbrite site. Your student ID is required.

University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University have been competing in the Varsity competition since 1993. It is the annual coming together of the two largest universities in Liverpool and is hosted by Sport Liverpool and Liverpool SU.  We’re the current holders of the prestigious trophy.
