City life in Liverpool has been voted the best in the UK in a major survey of university students.
The University of Liverpool won the ‘City Life’ category at last night’s 2018 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, an annual celebration of student satisfaction in higher education.
Now in their fifth year, the awards provide prospective students with an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.
Liverpool jumped an amazing seven places from last year and saw off competition from Newcastle, Glasgow and Bristol to take the top spot.
36,440 reviews were collected from students at 130+ universities, with 43 institutions nominated across 15 categories.
Student reviews describe the city as ‘really lively’, ‘friendly’ and an ‘amazing city, filled with amazing people’ with ‘always something going on’.
The winners were announced last night at the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards ceremony in London, presented by stand-up comedian, Katherine Ryan.
Mark Leach, Founder and Editor of Wonkhe, said: “Reviews from over 36,000 students in this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards provide an important insight into student satisfaction at a critical time for UK higher education. The opinions of students offer a valuable resource in helping institutions remain accountable and help us understand trends across the sector.”
