A group of students at the University have been selected to take part in enterprise internships.
The internships, which are being funded by the University, will help students develop the skills outlined in the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Education guidance.
The 32 students kicked off their eight-week internships with a full day development session, delivered by Gradconsult – a leading consultant in the graduate recruitment sector – before going into one of four different types of internships:
- Unilever: 12 students will undertake a number of specialist projects including virtual reality, robotics and lab-based research in homecare. They will be based at the Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) on campus, Sensor City and Port Sunlight.
- Liverpool Potential: Seven of the students will be working in various community-based organisations across Liverpool. Aimed at those who commute to University whilst living at home, the students will work one day per week at the University developing ideas to solve the issue of low participation in university community activities amongst the commuter student population. For the remainder of the week, they will work as ambassadors within community organisations in various roles including social media, events and research.
- Enactus Interns: Four students will work on social enterprise projects alongside community organisations such as Everton in the Community and Blackburne House. Interns will be planning for the forthcoming year, developing new materials and looking at new projects for the future.
- University of Liverpool Enterprise Internships: Eight students will be placed in various departments across the institution including Strategic Planning, Engineering, Physics, Management School, and Media and Communications.
The students will be set a new challenge each week where they will reflect on the development of their skills through a series of Vlogs.
