The cost of the annual Arriva bus pass has been reduced to £325 – a 15% reduction from the original cost of £380.
You’ll receive the lower cost bus pass if you buy the annual ticket from the Guild Shop.
The cost of the Term One bus pass (which runs from Saturday, 1 September until Monday, 31 December) and the cost of the Term Two bus pass (which runs from Tuesday, 1 January until Friday, 31 May) has also been reduced. If bought from the Guild Shop, the Term One bus pass will cost £135 and the Term Two bus pass will cost £190.
The new price comes after a year of negotiations with Arriva by the Guild. Guild President Rory Hughes and the team also conducted research in partnership with Merseytravel. The research demonstrated that reducing the cost of bus travel would help increase mobility across the city for students.
Talking about the reduction, Rory said: “I am really pleased to announce that cheaper bus travel has arrived for University of Liverpool students.
“We could not have achieved this without the help of the Metro Mayor’s office and, in particular, Councillor Liam Robinson and Merseytravel. Liam was instrumental in helping us secure meetings and in our negotiations with the bus companies. I send him sincere thanks on behalf of the Guild and the student body.
“We look forward to working in partnership with Arriva going forward to keep tackling the cost of bus travel and seek to improve the service for students at the University of Liverpool.”
