10 very useful tools every Liverpool student should know about

There are lots of tools and apps available at the University that will help you to navigate your studies and get around campus.

Here is our top 10 pick:

  1. PC Finder

Finding an available computer on campus has never been easier! Campus can get very busy, especially around exam time, so give yourself the best chance of getting a PC and use the PC Finder tool. Download the app to find out how many computers are available and where to find them across campus. You can also use the app to filter for specific equipment, such as a scanner, or adjoining desks so you can work next to a friend. Find out more here.

  1. Student Feedback Hub

We really value your feedback and we use your opinions to shape the University.

Alongside surveys and department specific feedback mechanisms, you can now also contact us using our dedicated central Feedback Hub.

The Hub contains information about what we have done with previous feedback from students as well as a dedicated form so you can let us know your view about any aspect of your experience at University.

What’s more, you can opt to receive a message in response to your feedback by including your name and email address. If you choose not to leave your contact details, your comment will be submitted anonymously.

  1. Print Anywhere

If you’re using your own laptop in the Library, need to print something from your phone, or are working from your room before you visit campus, you can use Print Anywhere to send your work to one of our printers and collect it as normal when you’re ready. Find out more here.

  1. Events Newsletter

Liverpool has a very rich cultural events programme, many of which are hosted by the University. You can be the first to know about special events at the University by signing up to our Events newsletter which is delivered monthly to your email inbox.

  1. Pass the Book

Finished with a book or need a new one for next semester? Pass the Book is a service designed for students at the University to buy, sell or donate their textbooks to other students. All you need to do is register with the site and you can get started. Books can be deposited at, or collected from, the library and all payments are made through PayPal so there’s no need to share contact details or payment details.

There is also a great range of new books for sale via the Library webpages with a large discount on the recommended retail price. Find out more here.

  1. Submit a story

If you’re a blogger or a vlogger – or if you’ve got a topic or issue you’d like other students to know about – submit your idea and your work could be published via Student News and via our social media accounts.

Previous contributors have written about a range of topics, from an account of what it’s like to study abroad to a special piece on feminism for International Women’s Day.

To contribute, you don’t need to have any previous writing experience and we welcome submissions from all students, no matter what subject you are studying or what level of study you are currently at. Not only could it raise awareness about something you care about, it can also help bolster your CV.

  1. Campus Map app

In a hurry to get somewhere or not sure where your exam is taking place? Download the Campus Map app and it can help you to find your way around campus. It will give you directions from your location to the building you are travelling to. Find out more here.

  1. Big White Wall

Last year the University launched an innovative new mental health support service, Big White Wall, to provide students with support 365 days a year.

University of Liverpool students going through a tough time can access the free online service. Whether you’re struggling to sleep, feeling low, stressed or not coping, Big White Wall can help you get support, take control and feel better.

The service provides 24/7 online support. It is also totally anonymous, so no one will know you’ve chosen to use it unless you tell them.

More information on Big White Wall and how to sign up can be found here.

We also offer single Advice and Counselling drop-in sessions between 11am-1pm every weekday in the Alsop building. During September, an additional afternoon session will also run from 2pm-3:30pm. The sessions are staffed by the Advice and Guidance team, our Counselling Service and our Mental Health Advisers.
