A final call has been issued for entries to the Vice-Chancellor’s Christmas card competition.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, launched the competition earlier this month to design a University Christmas card.
The competition is open to students and staff. Submissions can include photographs, paintings, drawings or digital design, and should offer perspectives about what makes Liverpool a unique place to live, work or study. The winners will be announced at the beginning of December.
The prize
The winner will receive £120 in book tokens, with second and third place entrants receiving £60 and £30 tokens respectively.
The winning design will be used for this year’s Christmas card sent by the Vice Chancellor and the Senior Management Team.
Last year’s winner was Postdoctoral Research Associate from the Institute of Integrative Biology, Dr Blanca Perez Sepulveda, who won the top prize with her creative design using a petri dish and caption about the University’s legacy in research in infectious disease (image below).

Commenting on the competition, Professor Janet Beer said: “The standard of Christmas card designs we have received over the last few years has been extremely high and it has been wonderful to see such a wide variety of methods and techniques. It gets harder and harder to pick the winning entries every year.
“Each card showcases the history and heritage of the University. I am really looking forward to seeing this year’s entries and being able to show off the creativity of our students and staff when the cards are sent out. All are welcome to take part and show us what they think makes our University so special.”
How to enter
The competition is open until Friday, 2 November 2018. Entries can be emailed to lindsey.sergeant@liverpool.ac.uk or delivered to the Vice-Chancellor’s office in the Foundation Building on campus (Building 765 on Campus Map).
