Your donations are changing lives – Moving On With Life & Learning

Moving on With Lifelong Learning National Student Survey University of Liverpool

MOWLL (Moving On With Life & Learning) is a Liverpool-grown organisation that promotes social inclusion of people with disabilities and mental health concerns.

The dedicated team work with self-advocates to build active connections within their local communities and to develop their confidence socially, personally and professionally.

This year, MOWLL is one of four charities being supported by the University and Liverpool Guild of Students as part of our National Student Survey campaign. For each final year undergraduate student who enters the survey, the University will donate £1 to charity. The total amount raised will be split between the four chosen charities – MOWLL, Revitalise, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and Sahir House – when the survey closes on 30 April 2019.

MOWLL

We recently caught up with MOWLL to find out more about what they do.

Innovative, Personable and Creative

  1. £10 would buy travel and lunch expense for a volunteer for a day
  2. £50 would buy new resources for our creative projects
  3. £250 would cover the hire of FireFit gym for our health and fitness projects for 10 weeks
  4. £500 would cover the cost of bringing a facilitator in to run a creative project for 10 weeks

We want to change the way people view those with disabilities. By enhancing the community presence of the self-advocates, we hope to change perceptions and attitudes and in the process tackle hate crime.

“It is so lovely to see the self-advocates becoming independent and putting themselves out of their comfort zone to partake in the different activities. Even after two weeks, I have seen the self-advocates and their confidence develop within MOWLL. Everyone acts as one big family and the support provided for everyone within MOWLL is inspiring”
