University taking place this March

A host of events are taking place at the University this March. Below are some of the highlights:

Ness Gardens – Family Science Fair Saturday, 9 March, 12pm – 4pm, Ness Botanic Gardens

In celebration of British Science Week, Ness Gardens hosts the Family Science Fair for the fifth year in a row.

Celebrating Decades of Women from the Liverpool School of Architecture
Thursday, 7 March, 6pm – 9pm, Liverpool School of Architecture

To celebrate the achievements of female graduates of the School and to mark International Women’s Day, you are invited to join us for a special event to hear from alumni across the decades who will talk about their work and time here.

This Must Be The Place: Liverpool’s Popular Music Venues
Wednesday, 20 March, 5pm – 7pm, Leggate Theatre, Victoria Gallery and Museum.

A thought-provoking new series of public lectures exploring the theme of ‘Movement, Place and Meaning’ from the perspective of five interconnected disciplines in the School of the Arts: Architecture, Communication and Media, English, Music and Philosophy.

A Night at the Races: Anatomy of a Racehorse
Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March, 6.30p, – 8.30pm, 126 Mount Pleasant

Ahead of this year’s Grand National, University of Liverpool experts will reveal what makes the racehorse an elite athlete superior to humans, and the unique challenges facing that most enduring of British sporting traditions, horseracing. An independent art historian will also highlight the work of Liverpool-born George Stubbs, who painted the most famous race horses in the 18th century.

Liverpool Memories: Conflict, Citizenship, Heritage
Wednesday, 20 March, 1pm-5pm, Lecture Theatre 5, Rendall Building

Liverpool is a unique and diverse city and this event explores some of the ways in which the communities, which have made their home in Liverpool, have established their identities in a city which saw itself in the run up to the City of Culture 2008 as ‘The World in One City’.
