If you have an idea for a business, apply for our Enterprise Fund and you could be awarded £500 to help make your idea a reality.
The award – which is presented to students in partnership with Santander Universities – can be used:
- As seed funding to help develop your idea
- To fund training courses that develop your skills
- To pay for travel to enterprise competitions
Last year, the Enterprise Fund supported five of our students to take their first steps into turning their idea into a reality.
You can apply as an individual or as a group to the fund.
As well as receiving funding, if you’re successful you could also be given the chance to work with industry experts to develop a business plan, create a brand and learn more about financial management.

Previous winners
Last year’s winning students were invited to a special event last week where the students were able to showcase their businesses.
Linda Donnelly is a Psychology student who is the founder of Divinely Inspired – a safe and ethical skincare company. Speaking about the award, Linda said: “Without this provision my business idea would not have gone forward so soon, or it may have been left like so many ideas do, to never materialise at all.”
Linda’s advice to other student entrepreneurs who are thinking of applying to the Enterprise Fund is: “If you believe your idea can work, don’t limit yourself and have faith in your ability.”

Marketing student Beth Heron was another winner from last year’s Enterprise Fund competition. Beth’s business, In2Gin, selling gin garnish packs. Speaking about the award, Beth said: “I am immensely grateful for the support I have received from Santander over the last year, both financial and through mentoring.
“I definitely believe parts of my journey would not have been feasible without their continued support, and for this I’ll always be thankful.”

The founders of the Guided Surgical Drill – Henry Tombs, Moises Barbera Ramos and Miguel Li – were also at the event.
Speaking about the Fund, Moises’s who studies Physics said: ““Thanks to the Enterprise Fund we are starting a project to build a revolutionary device to improve a common, but inefficient, surgical technique used in most hospitals.”
