Members of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences have signed up to take on The Coniston Challenge to raise vital funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
The Coniston Challenge is a triathlon with a twist in the beautiful Lake District – teams must complete a gruelling 10km trek up the Old Man of Coniston before cycling through the Grizedale Forest on a 17km bike ride. The challenge is complete once teams have kayaked 3km across Coniston Water.
Three teams made up of Professional Services and Academic Staff are aiming to raise £4,500 for the Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
The charity helps fund a range of activities and projects at Alder Children’s Hospital, which are designed to enhance and improve the lives of their patients. This includes funding special projects such as play specialists and ward-based chefs as well as supporting essential research.
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has strong links with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. From preventing bronchiolitis in babies to transforming treatment for children with arthritis, the University’s long standing partnership with the hospital has made an impact on the lives of children and young people in the local area and across the world.
