With the deadline for nominations approaching, Staff are invited to nominate their colleagues and teams for the University’s annual Staff Awards
Staff Awards 2019 will recognise staff commitment, skills and successes with entrants nominated by their colleagues. The awards will be judged by a panel of staff across a number of categories.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, said: “The annual staff awards are a great way for recognising the hard work and dedication of individuals and teams across the University. I’d encourage as many people to think about who would deserve recognition and consider making a nomination.”
Award categories
Nominations are being sought for the following award categories:
- Innovation of the Year
- Outstanding Contribution to Public Engagement
- Research Impact of the Year
- David Ellams Award for Outstanding Contribution
- Alan Beeston Early Career Researcher of the Year
- Inspirational Leader of the Year
- Lecturer of the Year
- Evans Memorial Professional Services Award
- Volunteer of the Year
- Greatest Contribution to the Student Experience
- Partnership of the Year
- Apprentice of the Year
- Unsung Hero Award
- Health, Safety and Wellbeing Award
Nominate a colleague
Staff can nominate a colleague through a new and improved online nomination portal on TULIP. Through the portal you can save and manage all your nominations and submit them when you are ready. You can access the portal to make a nomination here.
Please note that nominations can only be made by University staff for their staff colleagues.
Nominations cannot be made by, or for, Postgraduate Research Students (PGRs) or students studying at the University or sole external parties.
Self-nominations cannot be made for individual awards, but can be made for a team award when the nominator is part of that team.

The award winners will be presented with a certificate and a specially commissioned trophy at a ceremony in November.
